How to Custom Fit Golf Clubs

To properly fit a golf club there are several properties that must be taken into consideration.  The club length is determined by the relationship of an individuals height and arm length.  The appropriate golf club length along with a lie angle that is adjusted for an individual can greatly increase both accuracy and consistency.  Fitting a golfer with the loft, golf shaft and golf shaft flex gives a golfer every advantage he need to increase distance, ball flight and accuracy.

For fitting assistance on:  shaft length (standard club lengths), driver loftshaft flex,  lie angle, grip choice.

Step 1: How to Choose the Appropriate Golf Club Length and Lie Angle.

Before you use the tables below it is important to know your height and your wrist-to-floor measurement. To determine your wrist-to-floor measurement wear regular shoes and stand on a hard surface with your arms and shoulders hanging relaxed at your sides. Just like at ease in the military.  Make sure both shoulders are level.  Measure from the point where your hand meets your wrist to the floor (as shown in the diagram below). With this measurement and your height, use the table below to calculate the proper club length for you and lie angle.

Use the table below to determine how much longer or shorter than standard your club should be and the proper lie angle.

Step 2: How to determine the proper shaft flex for your swing:

Use the Charts below to determine the proper flex. The charts below are for consistent carry yardages only (not including roll).
You may also use IN Golf's wood shaft fitting wizard.  Just answer a couple of questions about your swing & physical build and the wizard will make shaft recommendations for you.

Step 3: How to determine the proper wood and hybrid shaft length.

The proper shaft length will allow you to feel comfortable and will help you strike the ball more affectively and consistent. Having the wrong shaft length can either have your body to upright or bent over to much.
